Coupon power

One of the things Google and the other local business platform love are discount coupons. Both Google Places and True Local have sections that allow you to enter offers and deals, which will improve your rankings in the local directories.

It’s a great idea to do this regularly, adding, say, ‘buy one, get one free’ or ‘10 per cent off new water heaters’ offers. If you have a free e-book, complimentary coffee or bands performing, you can add those: you don’t have to include discounts with the offer.

While the term “coupon” implies they have to be printed pieces of paper, and the way Google and True Local lay them out makes them look like those you’d clip out of a magazine, you don’t have to insist customers print them out to redeem them. You can use whatever method you like to validate and monitor what you customers do with your offers.

The coupon industry is taking off and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t add your own offers. Look at being creative and treat them as another way to publicise your business.
